Bartlett has a rich history having evolved from a community originally known as Union Depot and Green Bottom in the early 1800s. This was the last station in Tennessee along the Nashville stagecoach route heading west. After it’s nativity, Bartlett was known as a farming community and had major plantations along Stage Road.

In the 1860’s, with fewer than 100 citizens, Bartlett was officially named a city. Bryan Wither became the first mayor. This city was named for Major Gabriel M. Barlett, a planter who used to reside on the Raleigh-Somerville Road where the Bartlett Station Plaza now stands.

Since it’s official incorporation in the late 1860’s, Bartlett remained a relatively small town for the next 100 years. The town didn’t grow until the 1970’s and 1980’s with many new residents coming from Memphis. Today, Bartlett has more than 54,000 residents, and as of 2007 was the ninth largest city in Tennessee.

2007 was a good year for the town as Money magazine ranked Bartlett as one of the best 100 places to live in the United States.

With that in mind, the last thing you need to be doing is sorting one more pair of socks! Sign up with Blues City Laundry today and enjoy Bartlett for all it has to offer!
