How will we do our laundry in the future? Will we still use water? What about soap? With the recent rise of high efficiency machines, it’s not crazy to wonder how much laundry will change even over the next decade. Below we’ve shared some speculations from some fellow “laundry nerds.” Enjoy!
1.Some wonder about Preventative Detergents: this blog talks about how someday soon, there might be a spray that we can coat our clothes with to prevent even needing to washing anything.
2. The Self-Folding Machine: Wouldn’t that be neat? You wouldn’t have to fold another item for the rest of your life? Actually, that innovation is already here in some ways. Check out Blues City laundry pick-up and delivery services. You really don’t have to fold anything again!
3. No More Water: this blog says that in the future, we will use only 10% of the water that we currently use to wash a load of laundry. Instead, absorbent nylon beads will be used to absorb all the dirt. We’re all about the cheaper utility bill, but will it really do the job?
4. Grime-eating Nanotechnology: this is way too cool! Read about this here, but basically, someday we might be able to immerse our textiles in these little nanostructures that when exposed to light, will cause the textiles to self clean.
5. Dry it out: this one talks about how the technology behind dryers is on the brink of change as well. Not only will this method be quicker, it will be more efficient, using piezoelectric transducers to remove moisture.
Whatever the future holds, at Blues City, we’re doing our best to keep up to date on all the latest discoveries involving laundry.
